My friends in Christ, many rabbi's of Christ’s times said, religion consists primarily in Sacrifice. Many scribes would correct them and say that religion is concerned principally with the Law. What do you think? What is the primary concern of religion? For the last couple of meditations we have been journeying through are rather important topics and many loaded questions. What am I? What does it mean to be a person? Who is God? What is that force that organizes everything from Chaos into Cosmos? Today, I invite you to meditate for a while upon implications of the truths and mysteries we talk about last 2 times. Our church has outlined several principles which draw on the human beings natural abilities and help to create an environment conducive to our future development. Have you ever been Lied to or treated unfairly? Have you ever wondered what kind of person would willingly start a forest fire resulting in the loss of human and animal life? If these questions touch you, then you have a strong sense of justice. You belong to a faith community; we believe in and share with our world the gospel of Jesus. Human persons are capable of loving. These principles include: Dignity of a human person respect for life, a call to family and love, the rights of workers, human responsibilities, and common good. My friends, these are rooted in a vision of the human person which recognizes that we are all fundamentally good, but also deeply affected by sin and selfishness. My friends, it is a grace, but also a process. It starts with small steps. Every big masterpiece starts with a small beginning.
