Welcome to St. Thomas the Apostle Parish

Located in East Norwalk, CT

Our History:

On May 1, 1935, Most Reverend Maurice F. McAuliffe, Bishop of the Diocese of Hartford, which included the entire State of Connecticut, established the Parish of St. Thomas the Apostle in East Norwalk with Reverend Thomas J. Sullivan appointed as the first pastor. Under Father Sullivan's guidance, the newly-formed parish began holding services on Sunday, May 5, 1935, in the auditorium of Roger Ludlow Junior High School.  The boundaries of the parish were roughly described as Long Island Sound on the South, Norwalk River on the West, Westport Avenue on the North and the Town of Westport on the East.  The new Parish numbered about 900 parishioners who were former members of St. Mary and St. Joseph churches. For eight decades now, St. Thomas Church in East Norwalk, CT, has been a beacon of hope, faith and love for many, many faithful parishioners and their families. Today, numbering over 1450 families we are a community of believers in Jesus Christ striving to proclaim the Gospel in word and deed. Through worship, evangelization, formation and service we invite our brothers and sisters to know the Lord.

We invite you to join us for our Sunday Liturgies, ongoing catechetical, educational and social activities as we all strive to discover new ways of sharing faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Project:

Christmas in July !

St. Thomas the Apostle is proud to be a drop off site for Operation Christmas Child again this year. Collection week is November 13-20, 2017 From children to seniors, people pack shoebox gifts each year to bless children in need around the world. It is never too early to begin to shop and prepare your shoe boxes. The summer is a great time to be on the lookout for sale items that would be perfect to pack in a shoebox. Once again this year we will be asking for donations of items to be packed.

Here are some suggestions:

Toys: Include items that children will immediately embrace such as toy cars, yo-yos, jump ropes, balls, toys that light up and make noise (with extra batteries), etc..

School Supplies: Pens, pencils and sharpeners, crayons, markers, notebooks, paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc..

Non-liquid Hygiene Items: Toothbrushes, bar soap, combs, washcloths, etc.. NO toothpaste can be included in shoebox gifts, but a child’s oral hygiene can still be improved by regular use of a toothbrush alone.

Accessories: T-shirts, socks, hats, sunglasses, hair clips, jewelry, watches, flashlights (with extra batteries), etc..

NO type of candy can be included in shoebox gifts.

Start collecting items and drop them off here at St. Thomas. A Collection bin will be at the back of the church all summer!

We will be doing two Midnight Runs this year.  The dates have not been booked yet.  We are hoping to do one in October and another in February.  Please start collecting trail size shampoos, conditioners, toothpaste, deodorant, soaps, and toothbrushes.  We will also need Men's dark colored clothing (pants, shirts, sweaters, fall coats) sock, underwear and gently used shoes.  We are mainly looking for men's clothing because there are more men than women on the streets.  We also need blankets, hats, gloves, backpacks, small duffle bags and other similar bags.

You can place the items in the box in the front of the Church where the Operation Christmas Child donations are being collected.

If you are interested in being part of the Midnight team please email stthomas.lisa@gmail.com
